ENJOY YOUR YOGA JOURNEY

A little rhyme I created in October 2007 - Enjoy

Yoga Teachers Mission Statement (in rhyme) by Gerry Lishin

Within a nurturing space, absent of slight,
a loving place with neither wrong nor right.

I will guide my students out of bodily plight,
illuminating any darkness with my knowledge and light.

I will remove from my students’ bodies too tight,
and hope to leave within them a Heart of delight.

I will speak all encouragements both positive and bright,
while creating classes in which the Spirit takes flight.

I will stay true to the essence of this that I write,
while exploring my own path between ignorance and insight.

Mind, Body and Spirit is what I will strive to unite,
with the enduring flame of Passion that I hope to ignite.

This I will do, with memories of my Teachers glowing abright,
until my life’s final journey into that long goodnight.

Well, there they are - Some of the quotes that have helped to inspire me to share my knowledge, passion and love for yoga.

My Background

I first practiced Yoga in 1991 when I lived in Southern California at the time.
I studied in various styles of yoga before I stumbled onto Ashtanga yoga. (Luckily, I didn't stumble in class too much), loving the structure and flow of it from the beginning. When I moved to Orlando in 1997, I was dismayed at the lack of powerful yoga classes in the area. Luckily, a wonderful teacher named Lewis Rothlien began offering Ashtanga classes in Winter Park and re-kindled my love and passion for Yoga.

In 2001, I completed a wonderful teacher training with David Swenson, and have been teaching and traveling ever since then attending various teacher trainings, specifically with Shiva Rea, Seane Corn and Rod Stryker, I have also attended over 500 hours of Yoga classes   at retreats, weekend workshops   and conventions since 2001.

In 2003, I compiled and published both the Yoga Students Notebook and Yoga Teachers Notebook which I sell online at www.yoganotebook.com.

I currently lead a creatively choreographed Dynamic Non-Fatiguing Flow style of Yoga class. I really consider myself more of a Yoga Choreographer than a teacher.   I currently teach at Full Circle Yoga in Winter Park and at the Dr.Phillips Golds Gym.
